Sunday 27 February 2011

The past week (and a bit) has been super, super busy, hence such an empty blog. There's like a ton of things on my to-do list and my laptop decided to go against my and the internet decided to pretend to be a snail =.="

I've got too much to do so I won't be ranting an essay today. Here's my week in short:

Sushi
I spent two and a half hours making sushi last, last Friday whilst waiting for my mum and sis to arrive in Sheffield

Snow from last Saturday... crazy, snowing in the middle of February T_T

Snowing-at-a-crazy-time 2

The sky was really pretty the other day. The photos don't do it justice because the camera didn't pick up the pinky colour very well

The pinky sky again, it was just so pretty. It was just pink and blue and awesome! ^^

My sister and I decided to have another sushi feast on Friday... my sister made this pretty sushi ^^

The sushi I made...

Jess' udon... we made udon (from scratch) yesterday. I have this awesome recipe, it doesn't look that good in the photos but I swear it tastes good =D

This is my udon... I was too lazy to cut them into thin stripes hence some of them are thick as ever... but they do taste awesome =D

Then today, I took my sister to the train station and put her on the train... it's her first time getting the train by herself. And now I'm just trying to work hard, I was making notes on maths stuff, then I ended up doing Purple Peace stuff... so much stuff to do. And I need to book my train ticket for next week but I'm just waiting for Na... seeing the sushi and udon makes me hungry... I have the same problem every day: what shall I eat tonight? I might just have instant noodles today =]

My Day Today

I've had quite a good and tiring day and I'm just feeling quite happy and energetic at the same time. So I thought I'd post (because I have half an hour spare because my lecture was cancelled).

This morning, I woke up at half 8, then didn't get out of bed till 9am. My lecture was at 10am (ideally I'd leave around 9:40-9:45). But today, for some reason, it took me forever to get ready. I went to wash my face and brush my teeth, then I decided to use my to use my other facewash thing, so that wasted a bit of time. Then I had to do my make up and then I realised I didn't really have anything to wear. I haven't done the laundry in over a week but that wasn't even the problem. I don't know whether it's just me or does everyone else get this problem too? Finding clothes to wear, but you also have to make sure you didn't wear it on the same day last week. Also I've gained a bit of weight lately x_x I also had to prepare clothes for badminton today. So long story cut short: I didn't go to the 10am lecture.

My next lecture was at 12pm, so I left a bit earlier to print of some lecture notes for the maths lecture this morning. Then I went to the lecture =] It was such a... what's the word I'm looking for... lecture. Basically, in this module, this term we'll have different people lecturing us and stuff... and today, it was this biology lecturer who lectured about sex, animal sex I might add. First, he told us we're squid - smart squid. Because graduates are like squid, only one in a million survives... so only smart squid, like us, will survive in the job market... all of our reaction were: oookkayyyy o_O
Then here came the real biology talk, it was more or less about sexual selection and lots of other stuff that I won't go into detail about. It was funny though.

Then we had about 45 minutes to kill before going to badminton. So we went to the IC (library) and a friend and I just went through our tutorial work to compare answers. Then we went to badminton, we had to trek all the way to the Goodwin centre which takes at least 15 minutes to get there (if you walk at our speed xD) Then we didn't know what to do, it was the first time I booked a court, so we just sort of tried to ask and the woman wasn't very nice. Then she sent us to another building to hire rackets/racquets (I never know which way it is, I always thought it was the latter but I could be wrong). We thought we'd hire racquets during the first week and see how it goes. If it goes alright, we'll buy our own for next week. I don't know where my badminton racquets are from home, otherwise I'd just take one from home, it'd be better than having to buy one. (I just Googled it, it can be spelt either way, both racket and racquet are correct... this just underlined 'spelt', either I spelt 'spelt' wrong or this is just being weird.) Anyway, then we walked all the way back to the court (well it's only like a 1 minute walk) then my friend pointed out that we didn't have a shuttlecock, so I had  buy one for £1.50, which is quite a rip off for just one but you need what you need. So we finally started playing and it was fun. I was crap at the beginning (and still am) after not playing for so long. But even years ago, when I did play, I still wasn't very good. But yeah, overall, it was fun. And at first, we were just playing normally. Then at one point, we decided to play points and first up to 5, then we'd swap round. Heheh once we started counting points, I think the competitiveness came out =P

I had to leave badminton fifteen minutes early to get to my tutorial. Jeez, I wasn't even sweating from the badminton, but I was sweating from the walking to the management building (it's far from the sports hall). Then we made it on time which was good. Because my friend and I had decided where we want to sit (it's basically a small room with about 4 rows of seats) and I basically wanted to sit on the penultimate row close to the wall, because those seats, you get picked on less lol xD There's actually a lot into that kind of stuff: where to sit to not get picked on xD

Then I had another lecture, we were meant to watch this 50 minute film but the video player (yes, video) didn't work. So she was like 'we can either cancel it and rearrange, or we could have next week's lecture now (but that lecture sorts of build on the video)'. She said to put your hand up if we should just cancel it and rearrange... and I've actually never been so eager to put my hand up... hence I've got some spare time to blog today.

I still have to shower, wash my clothes, hoover, and everything else though. I could do the laundry and hoover tomorrow but I think it's just best to get it over and done with because my mum might be visiting tomorrow night. I'd rather do it now than rush tomorrow and then get told off for being so messy. When it comes to doing the laundry, they are the times that I wish I lived at home =P

Just Another Long Rant

Yet again, I have no arty contribution to my blog today. I haven't even finished (or continued, shall I say) the background I was working on. It's been really busy lately, and it's only been the second week into the term. Last weekend, I went to Manchester and it was awesome. It was wonderful to meet old friends again, especially one who I haven't seen for two and a half years, since I moved down to Hertfordshire. And I think, catching up with friends, seeing what they've been doing over the past year has been good. Sometimes, you just need those moments in life.

I also bought lots (I say lots, but it wasn't that much, I wish I had bought more). I've actually eaten most of it already, and today's only Wednesday. I actually can't wait till my next trip till Manchester, I'm going to stock up like crazy. It's not that there isn't Pocky and stuff in Sheffield, but it's more expensive. If I was unaware, I would be willing to pay a ridiculous price for Pocky and all the other Japanese sweets, but you don't fool me when I know the prices >=[ There's this new Japanese store (which I mentioned in the previous post), and they were selling Pocky for £2.10 and Pretz for a similar price, the Chinese supermarket round here only sells it for 90p or £1.20 or something like that... but in Manchester I bought Pocky for 60p! So here's my mini rant on prices xD And just think about all the extra snacks I could buy from the money I save ^^ No one is going to separate me from my Pocky and cuttlefish (there's this snack which is called 'seasoned cuttlefish' according to the packet and it's damn amazing... It's not to everyone's taste but my life would be a sadder life without it ^^)

I've decided that this post is going to be one of those where I talk a lot of myself. Interestingly, everyone seems to be blogging more about pictures and drawings and stuff. But in my old blog, my friends there and I used to just blog a whole page of writing... maybe blogger is just a lot less wordy?

Today was my day off! YAY FOR WEDNESDAYS! I went bowling with some friends. First we went to Pizza Hut after I said I didn't like Nandos (we had a dilemma between Pizza Hut and Nandos). As usual, Pizza Hut had incredibly bad service. I wonder are they ever going to get it right? It's been so many years... surely some dude at the head office would have received enough and complaints and decide they must do something about it. There's really something wrong with the disciplines and management of that company. Today, I had to ask three times for a straw. The first time, the waitress said she'll get me one in a couple of minutes and walked off somewhere (she wasn't even going off to do something else that was urgent, in fact, she wasn't doing anything at all). Second time, I decided to try a different waitress, she also told me to wait a few minutes. Then finally, I asked the third waitress, and I finally got a straw. She also bought out a pasta dish my friend had ordered, then, just before he was about to eat it, he realised there was chicken in it. So they had to recook his dish, without the chicken. Another friend who ordered potato wedges for starters, then a small margarita pizza... but her pizza order was never placed. Sometimes I wonder will that place ever get things right?

Then bowling was fun, after not bowling for so long... it felt a little weird but fun. I do regret not cutting my nails before hand though... because (maybe I'm bowling wrong) but I get this pain in my right thumb and after a few goes when the pain shows up... I'm worried about my nail breaking. It happened once and it was horrible. But nonetheless, I didn't come last. I only got one strike in two games, but it's a small achievement ^^

After bowling, I wanted to go shopping in town and make the most of my day ticket for the tram. But I had a stomach ache (I personally suspect the pizza because I hadn't eaten anything else that day besides my tea and biscuits which I have every day). Besides that, it was also because I was just super tired and needed to go home and rest. (Yes, I needed to rest, even though I did nothing but sleep till 10am and ate and went bowling... =.=") But the night before I was doing Purple Peace stuff till rather late; and boy, does making a website make your head hurt or make your head hurt? It makes your head hurt. Another thing I did on Saturday was discuss PP plans and this week I made a deadline for 21st February. That's the last day for the website to finish, and then we have to start promotions for our new website. But there's just so much to do on my super long to-do list. And the Purple Peace comic is driving me insane. But I know it'll all be worth it some day. PP is like my child (I know it sounds weird but just bare with it xP).

Lastly, here's a little piano piece by koreanjeenyus. I can't even remember subscribing to him but I came across this video in my subscriptions and rather liked it =]

Sushi

I've been craving sushi for daaayyysss (actually, I constantly crave sushi). There's a new Japanese place in Sheffield so I thought I'd check it out. I had a look at the menu outside, then walked in and actually, it's rather expensive (by this time, it was too late), so I was just going to buy some Japanese snacks and stuff but boy, they're well expensive, I'm heading to Manchester tomorrow anyway and stuff are like half the price, but I bought some anyway. Then I managed to eye the ready-made sushi:
I craved sushi + the shop sold sushi = expensive sushi bought
Sushi's always been expensive, but this place is probably charging a little bit over market price. Plus it felt expensive for someone who had already eaten lunch today. But I wasn't in a very good mood and I decided sushi would cheer me up =]

Hehehe I'm not really a food critic but here comes my sushi assessment. The salmon's pretty thick so that's alright, but you can tell it's been stabbed with a folk, someone who was putting the salmon on the rice stabbed it with a folk (which idiot did that should be fired really). The rice is like a small ball, it should really be bigger, they shouldn't be so stingy, it's only rice, it's the cheapest thing there (other than that funny green (plus a little bit of yellow) thing which I don't know what it's called but it's not a cucumber). Plus, I don't think the rice has enough vinegar/seasoning, it's just a little too bland... I haven't tried the other one yet, I'm eating as I'm typing. Other than than... I'm not exactly satisfied but the sushi itself but it's satisfied my sushi craving =]
I can't wait to go to Manchester tomorrow and eat some better sushi =D

Busy Thursday

I have no drawings to contribute to this blog today... This term is way busier than last term. But later on tonight, I'll try and do more of the Purple Peace comic, but that's way stressful so I may just go to bed instead heheh xP

Hmmm I had three lectures today =[ From now on, Thursday is a super busy day. Some weeks I'll also have tutorials. I don't really have much to talk about today but I just want to post something xP

Oh, I'll share some happy news. I got my coursework back for one of my management modules and I got 85% =] I think it's about time I worked hard and get better grades, I've slacked for a bit too long since I've come to uni. But that essay, all I did was waffle and question things xP And the lecturer's notes on my essay was super difficult to read, but I think I managed to decipher it hehe =]

About 40 minutes ago, I tried to make pancake. It came the point where I was sifting the flour and I realised that I don't have any eggs, I'm so smart x_x So I went down to Tesco to buy some eggs and all the cheaper ones were gone and it wasn't until today that I realised how expensive eggs are. I was going to buy a pack of six, then I decided to buy a pack of ten for two reasons: they work out cheaper per egg hehe ^^ and that might encourage me to bake more (I baked lots at the beginning of the term but I'm gradually running out of time =[ but I really hope I can bake more and also decorate cakes but it's really sad because I can't finish them on my own, I'm not sure my friend's truly appreciate it =[ and sometimes it's a bit weird if I keep giving my flatmates cakes and cookies).

It's 7pm now and I'm starving even though I just ate 4 pieces of pancakes. (my recipe makes around 8 pieces, hence usually I half all the ingredients and just make 4 which is just enough to make a nice snack hehe ^^) but for some reason, I'm really hungry. (I suddenly crave sushi, actually I've been craving sushi all week.) I think I eat too fast, so even after I eat, I'm still really hungry... but then after a while, my stomach and brain catches up with the fact I've just eaten xD then I'll suddenly feel really full =P

Oh oh, I started a new drama. I can't even remember what it's called, but it's got Mike He in ^^ He's so good looking, but I'm not fond of his hair style... it's a bit too thick =[ but it's pretty good. I think it's adapted from a manga judging by the storyline. So check it out if you have time ^^

Mulan

Mulan is actually one of my favourite Disney films after The Lion King (and maybe Cinderella and The Little Mermaid). Actually, The Lion King is my ultimate favourite, then the others don't really have a ranking.

Mulan (2009)

This evening I watched Mulan, but the real people film version. It's usually not my type of film, I say I don't like war films, but when it comes to it, I actually really like them. But I guess I say I don't like them because they're always really sad and epic, and I think it's really painful to think that something (or something really similar) actually happened and this is how millions of people died in real life. But Mulan actually turned out to be really good =] It's the 2009 version (and apparently there's another version coming out this year). But the main is this actress I quite like, she was also in the little sister in this other film called 'Closer' (or something on the lines of that), it's actually called 'So Close'. (It's also a pretty good film, some bits are a bit weird (not in a bad way and not that weird, but it used to make me cry. And it was because of this film that I fell in love with the song 'Close To You' ^^) Anyway I think she was really good in Mulan, so if you have two and a half hours spare, I recommend it ^^

The main dude was alright too. He looks familiar for some reason, but I haven't seen him anywhere (as in, in any films..., not literally anywhere xD) I'm checking out his Wikipedia page (as I do, when I discover someone new). He's in a lot of olden time/historical-y films. As much as I like history films and stuff, I can't take too many of them. They require a lot of concentration and understanding.

P.s. As I was Googling the real version of Mulan I just watched, I realised that the Disney version was made in 1998... woah so long ago. I was only six years old... Time flies by. It really surprises me when I realise how long ago these Disney films were made but it feels like it was only last year or something... it's just such a childhood thing and it doesn't feel like it was that long ago because I don't feel like I'm growing older (or shall I say, I'm still quite immature xP)

Back To Uni

I started lectures again today. I was so tired though. Even though I slept till 9:30 this morning and I was really tired. My poster woke me up though... I heard it fall and since then it has been annoying me by refusing to stick on the wall >=[ but I attacked it with a huge blob of blue tack. Mwuahaha >=]

This term is so much more intense compared to last term. I have two maths lectures instead of one so I guess I'll have to do double the work. And I decided to be a good girl and started to make notes already... but this chapter is huge and I'm bored already. Its about functions of  or more independent variables =[

Today I also went into town and bought some stuff. I bought washing up liquid =] because my flatmates keep using mine and I can see it running out very soon. I also finally bought a refill for my Ambi Pur thing (I bought it ages ago, when I first moved in, and I didn't know you had to buy the fragrance separately, so for months I've just had this 'plug')... It's one of those you plug into the socket but this one's a light sensor so it's on during the day and it turns itself off at night. But actually, that's just weird... I just switch if off at the switch. Because it's stupid if it's on all day, because after a while, you won't notice it. So I switch it off when I'm home, then I switch it on before I go out, so when I come back it's all nice and fresh =]

My room is just too messy right now. I'll tidy it soon... I went into my flatmate's room to have a chat today... and her room in it's 'messy' state is ten times tidier than mine...

Plus the winds in Sheffield are ccrrraaaazzzyyy. Long hair + wind = hair in face. I was walking back from town and I could hardly walk.

I don't have any drawings to post today. I tried to draw in one of my lectures... I did an eye from the side but that wasn't anything special. Then I drew this squirrel character from my folder, but that didn't turn out too well either...

I'll post a different type of picture though.

This is an email from DVDHeaven that came through today. I really want these JYJ (*cough*justJaeJoongreally*cough) t-shirt(s). But I was rather offended when I looked at the price. Firstly, they're crazily expensive anyway. And now I refuse to keep being ripped off by all these companies for these rubbish quality t-shirts *cough*mymirotictshirt*cough* =[
But the price difference between their t-shirts made me sad:
JaeJoong: $59.04 USD
YooChun: $83.04 USD
Junsu: $46.94 USD

I'm happy that JaeJoong's isn't $83.04, because $60 dollars is more affordable than $83 =.=" but why is JaeJoong's t-shirt cheaper than YooChun's? (In my head, I feel like: price of t-shirt = popularity)

Actually I don't really know what's the main point I wanted to make. I just wanted to point out that they're different prices and that annoys me.

Anyway, my brain energy levels are dropping rather rapidly...
Have a lovely week ^^
